A few adjustments as it did not fit the door frame.
5 out of 5 stars
A few adjustments as it did not fit the door frame.
Seems sturdy. Easy to assemble, tad there are 4 screws and it comes with a wrench. And the metal tubes are pretty solid. When assembled it was too wide for the door way. I took off the rubber end caps and cut off 1.5 inches off each side and then put the rubber caps on again. Fits perfectly. I also wanted it higher so on the backside of the door frame I secured a piece of wood that boosts the bar up about 2.25 inches. This will also help with the weight (I’m 220lbs) on the moulding around the door. The only thing that puzzles me is that everything is metal but the bar that rests horizontally on the back of the door frame. It’s plastic. Seems somewhat durable, but I wonder if that will be the thing that might break. We will see. ***Update (3 weeks later): solid and functional. I’ve done about 900 chin ups/pull ups on it, and it flexes, but it is sturdy and solid. The foam pads have ripped a bit, but I just use hockey tape and wrap the handles. No other issues. Great purchase.

I had a hard time committing to a bar that i thought would be a good fit and fit my door frames as my house is older. BUT this sits perfectly on top of the frame, is super sturdy (I'm 140 lbs). Was easy to put together and has not fallen down! I attached resistance bands to it all the time to do other exercises (like lat pull downs) and it is sturdy and doesnt seem like it is falling. Would definitely recommend this bar for anyone that is unsure. You can also return this one so if it happens to not fit a door in your house, that is a reassuring reason to purchase

This was a great, sturdy piece of equipment that worked as intended. My only word of caution is if your door frame is thin, it can fall off easily. Also if the door frame trim is low quality, it will become damaged over time.

The item was delivered without any additional boxes (so everyone who saw the the box knew it was a workout bar). It took 5 minutes (10 minutes max) to set the bar up and put onto the door. So far, there is no damage on the door and it is super easy to set up and take down. My husband is 6'0, 165lbs and I'm 4'11, 105lbs and both of us use the bar. We have toddlers running around the home so we constantly need the doors closed, which means we take the bar down daily and put it back up at night when they are sleeping. It is super easy to take on and off. I'm super happy we bought it. The only con to the bar is how bulky it is since we live in a small space and we constantly need the doors closed during the daytime. Aside from that, I would 100% recommend the product.

Package was clearly returned as faulty and not checked. There are 2 sets of bolts to secure it together. 1 set is correct, the other set are different sizes. Furthermore, the theards are busted on one screw. Typical terrible Amazon quality checking. This was clearly a returned item most likely for the same reason as outline above - but they just put it back on the shelves and now I've ended up with it. It's passed the return date too as I've been away for business. So frustrating.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent pullup bar. Solid and reliable. - Update at end of review
Reviewed in the United States on August 24, 2009
    Verified Purchase
I got this 2 1/2 months ago, and I have used it daily since then. I have gone from just 10 pull ups a day (in multiple sets) to more than 50 pull ups a day. Here are my impressions of this bar:

    - Very easy to assemble. All that is needed is included in the package, and it only takes a few minutes to mount the bar.
    - The bar is solid and reliable. I was a little leery to hang my weight from a door frame, but I have not had any problems. I suppose that as long as your door frame is solid you shouldn't have any problem either. There is a retention clip that is used as a sort of security measure, by the way. All in all, I have full confidence in this bar now.
    - It seems very well built, and I think it will stand the test of time.
    - Versatility: You can use this bar to do pull ups (palms facing away,) chin ups (palms facing towards you,) and neutral grip pull ups (palms facing each other.) Not all bars have handles that allow you to do neutral grip pull ups, and this is definitely a plus, since when doing pull ups variety is important (it will allow you to engage different muscle fibers in your back.)

I really have not used this bar for push ups or sit ups, but alone on its merits as a pull up bar, it deserves the highest rating.

    UPDATE:
After 4 months, the foam on the grip areas started peeling off and eventually breaking away. Maybe it's because I use exercise gloves when doing pull ups, but I think the construction in the grip area should be better. This is not diminishing my ability to do pull ups however, and given the overall quality of the bar, I still maintain my original review rating. But consider what I mentioned about the foam falling appart when you buy this product, and whether that might be an issue for you.
